Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Dec. 22 that the Serbian Progressive Party would run in elections, and that those who did not want to did not have to. Asked to comment on a proposal from New Party president Zoran Zivkovic to the opposition to make a surprise move and run, Vucic said they could do what ever they wanted.

"If they want to run, let them, if they don't, so be it. We want to and we know we'll have a hard time doing the job," Vucic said.

Socialist Party of Serbia president and Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Dec. 22 that he had proposed to Vucic that they run together in the coming election, because he was always being accused of collaboration with the opposition.

"I proposed to Vucic that we run in the election together, so we can see why I am constantly a target of accusations of siding with the opposition," Dacic told Prva TV and added that there was no dilemma and that he could not see why he should join forces with anyone from the opposition to gain power since he was already in power.
