Montenegrin Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodzic said on Aug. 24 that he believed Montenegrin society was democratic, responsible and mature, and that election day would pass without incident and with the implementation of measures aimed at preventing coronavirus spread.

The general election in Montenegro is scheduled for Aug. 30. Local elections will be held on the same day in Budva, Kotor, Tivat, Gusinj and Andrijevica.

Nuhodzic said that if there were individual incidents, that could not endanger the electoral process. "The state of Montenegro has strong institutions which are capable and determined to ensure the security of all citizens and, in line with legal authority, will not allow any disruption of public order and peace, both on the day when the elections are held and after election day," he said.
