The Palace of the Republic in central Banjaluka, which is the location of the office of the president of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, was secured on March 6, besides the police in uniform, by the RS Gendarmerie with long-barreled weapons and a police vehicle.
In regular circumstances, the Gendarmerie does not secure the president of RS. On the other hand, as reported by the Sarajevo-based portal Detektor, two KFOR vehicles have been deployed at the office of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in East Sarajevo.
RS President Milorad Dodik called on the Serbs employed in SIPA on March 5, around 300 of them, to walk out of their jobs and come to the Interior Ministry of RS. The RS authorities’ decision to ban the operation of the state’s judicial institutions and SIPA in RS territory has caused the largest political and security crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina since the signing of the Dayton agreement.
The cause for passing such laws was the guilty verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina against RS President Milorad Dodik, for failing to implement the decisions of the high representative in Bosnia.
