On Oct. 6, the leaders of the Western Balkans are scheduled to meet in Durres, Albania, at a summit of the Brdo-Brijuni initiative, where they will mainly focus on the European outlook of the region, with a special focus on the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, the North Macedonian MIA wire service reported on Oct. 4.
According to the report, the Brdo-Brijuni Process is a Slovenian-Croatian initiative launched in 2013 and its members are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and the territory of Kosovo.
The Durres summit was organized by the presidents of Slovenia and Croatia, Natasa Pirc Musar and Zoran Milanovic, while the host will be Albanian President Bajram Begaj. Attendance at the conference in Albania has been confirmed by Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic, Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina members Zeljka Cvijanovic, Denis Becirovic and Zeljko Komsic, North Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
The Brdo-Brijuni initiative aims to encourage mutual cooperation and assist the efforts of the countries in the region to join the European Union. This year's meeting will be held under the slogan, Shared Interests, Shared Commitment to a Shared Future: Together toward the EU. In addition to the European outlook of Western Balkan countries, the summit will focus on strengthening regional cooperation, the organizers announced.
