The Croatian government will put up for grabs its shares and stakes of up to 25 percent in 90 companies by April 2020, as part of stepping up privatizations, which is among the reforms contained in the Action Plan for entering the European Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM), Zagreb daily Jutarnji List has reported.

Croatia's state-run Center for Enterprise Restructuring and Privatization (CERP) will put up for sale shares and stakes in 357 companies, or one fourth of its portfolio. In a statement to the daily, Zvonimir Savic, advisor to the Croatian prime minister for economic issues, has said that selling methods will depend on whether the subject company stocks are traded on a stock exchange or not.

Bids for selling stakes in some 30 firms will be invited in the autumn. Although there is still no indication of which enterprises  could be on the list, it seems that those will include only the companies with a minor state stake. A total of four calls for bids are envisaged, which will be published in daily newspapers and on web sites of CERP and the State Property Ministry, according to sources in the ministry, who also said that the two institutions possessed the necessary logistics to complete these tasks within the set deadlines.
