Good management and the activities being undertaken by the Government of North Macedonia and the National Bank have been maintaining macroeconomic and financial stability and have mitigated the effects of the COVID-19 crisis on the economy and society, the IMF said in the closing statement of its 10-day regular mission, North Macedonian website Vesti reports.

The statement says that the government’s top priority are the health of the citizens and preserving the economy, and that next year economic activity will intensify after being diminished in 2020 as a result of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the past 10 days, the mission held virtual meetings with Finance Minister Fatmir Besimi and a Finance Ministry team, at which the macroeconomic situation and projections were thoroughly reviewed as part of the regular annual mission.
