Serbia’s oil company NIS announced on July 18 that it had submitted a new request to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for a special license that would delay the full implementation of sanctions and allow the company to continue operations beyond July 29, the expiration date of the previous license issued on June 26.

According to the statement, the company has so far received four waivers from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), each postponing the full application of the sanctions.

NIS also submitted a request on March 14 to the U.S. Treasury Department seeking removal from the SDN (Specially Designated Nationals) list, describing the process as "complex." The company said it would continue to inform the public in a timely manner on all of the relevant factors that could affect its operations.
