The second meeting of specialized exposition EXPO 2027 participating countries has started in Belgrade, in attendance of 451 delegates from 138 states.
The three-day event in Belgrade has gathered ministers, state secretaries, ambassadors, and heads of national institutions responsible for the economy, trade, innovation, tourism, culture, and sports.
They, together with the organizers, will define the next steps and plans of their respective countries’ participation at EXPO 2027, an event which will turn Belgrade into a global platform for culture and innovation, and exchange of ideas.
At the opening, Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said that Serbia had set a record in the number of participating countries, with applications submitted by 137 states, of which 130 had confirmed their attendance, beating Kazakhstan’s capital Astana, which hosted 117 countries in 2017.
“Today, the world is in Belgrade, and Belgrade is the world in a nutshell. Even amid great tensions in the world, this is perhaps a true picture and opportunity of what the world should look like, but also a prelude to what can be expected in Serbia next year,” Mali said.
During their stay in Belgrade, foreign delegations will be presented with detailed development plans for the EXPO 2027 complex, the concept of the exposition’s program, as well as key logistic and organizational steps under the next preparation stage.
The specialized exposition EXPO 2027, themed “Play for Humanity- Sport and Music for All”, will be hosted by Belgrade from May 15 to Aug. 15, 2027.
