Slovenian Revoz Factory

In the Slovenian Revoz factory, which manufactures Renault cars, work contracts will not be extended for 400 workers due to the coronavirus crisis. This includes 90 percent of workers from Croatia, the Jutarnji List newspaper reported, citing Revoz spokeswoman Nevenka Basek Zildzovic.

Slovenia’s biggest French-owned company seated in Novo Mesto, which employs around 3,200 people and its decision to downsize is the result of a sharp dive in demand, i.e. the situation on the global car market, which was directly caused by the Covid-19 crisis, the company’s management has said.

The first to go will be workers with fix-term contracts through the country’s employment service, while in addition to Slovenian workers and workers from Croatia, there are also citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who will be sacked, B92 has reported.

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, in mid-March, Revoz halted manufacturing for six weeks, whereas it renewed its operations at the beginning of March. The Revoz factory manufactures “Clios,” “Twingos” and “Smart Forfours.”

The Slovenian market has a capacity to absorb cars manufactured in a 24 hour period, and all of these cars are intended for the French, German, and Italian markets. After cancelling the third shift in the factory, production will go down by around 150 cars, which means that a little over 600 cars will be produced daily.
