German Sartorius Group, a renowned biopharmaceutical and laboratory equipment producer, has acquired Slovenian biotech company BIA Separations, which produces intelligent macromolecule purification filters, for EUR360m.

According to SEEbiz, Sartorius said in a press release that the Slovenian company would become its therapeutics purification quality center, as well as a center for cell and genetic treatment, with the aim of making innovative solutions in the field increasingly available through the new partnership.

Out of the EUR360m, 240m will be paid out in cash, while the rest will be in Sartorius shares.

The new owner expects that the Ajdovscina-based company with 120 employees will quadruple its production capacity next year.
