Deputy president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Mihailo Vesovic said on May 30 that the Free Trade Agreement with Egypt had been verified and would be enacted by the end of summer.

"This is a major step forward in economic relations between Serbia and Egypt, something we have been working on for the past six or seven years. With the Free Trade Agreement, we have achieved the highest form of economic cooperation," Vesovic said at a press conference, ahead of a meeting with Egypt's Minister of Labor Mohammed Gobran and Serbian companies interested in hiring workers from that country.

The deputy president of the Chamber emphasized that more than 80 percent of products traded with Egypt would be included in a free trade regime. "This is very important for Serbian exporters looking for alternative markets beyond Europe, where most Serbian products currently go. This concerns fruit, frozen fruit and vegetables, as well as certain technological and industrial products, which is a very important step forward for Serbian exports and the economy," Vesovic said.

Gobran congratulated Serbia on organizingspecialized EXPO 2027 exhibition and added that he believed it would help Serbia be recognized as a "great country," and that it would likely need workers from Egypt for that occasion, if not for others, especially in the field of construction.

"Our workers have extensive experience in this field in Egypt, and many other countries want them, too. Some Egyptian workers are in Serbia already, but not many. Our workers are very professional, polite, they do not cause problems, and they do their job professionally," Gobran said.
