On July 17 Kosovo Albanian Faton Hajrizi, who spent most of his life behind bars, shot and killed police officer Nikola Krsmanovic and wounded his colleague Vjekoslav Ilic in Loznica, western Serbia. After two days of hiding near the town, Hajrizi was found and killed by the Serbian police, which he shot at, according to the official version. Despite reports that indicate that the attack had criminal and not political motives, the Serbian authorities have been calling it an act of terrorism since day one.
