The argument that Serbia nourishes a thinly veiled ambition to build up its role in the region using a strong army is quite unrealistic, because it’s a very close partner to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). It is important to note that Serbia is surrounded by NATO countries, and that a chance of Belgrade repeating the 1999 alone-against-the-world scenario is next to nil.
