A few days before the 24th anniversary of the murder of journalist Slavko Curuvija, whose murderers have not been handed down a final verdict, top government officials and the pro-regime media launched a witch-hunt against journalists employed at independent media outlets owned by United Group (N1 TV, Nova TV and newspaper, daily Danas). Owner and Editor-in-Chief of the Informer Tabloid Dragan Vucicevic’s going to prison to serve a six-month sentence was used as the main occasion for staged attacks on those media outlets, which jeopardized the safety of their journalists.
