Serbian Political Scene in the Shadow of the Kosovo Crisis: Serving Political Purposes

Kosovo government spokeswoman Doneta Gashi has denied claims by the Kosovo Ministry of Foreign Affairs that Pristina has banned all Serbian politicians from entering Kosovo because of Belgrade’s campaign against Kosovo, but the news of the ban has nonetheless caused a new stir and strong reactions from Belgrade. This is another in a number of measures and countermeasures between Belgrade and Pristina that were initiated by Kosovo’s imposing of import tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and continued with the so-call humanitarian crisis in northern Kosovo. Those measures show that Serbia and Kosovo are moving away from resuming their negotiations.
