At its session on March 10, the Serbian Government had introduced additional measures to counter coronavirus spread and had temporarily banned entry to Serbia of foreign nationals coming from the areas reporting a large number of coronavirus cases, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said.

The ban applies to persons coming from the virus-stricken areas in Italy, certain parts of China and Switzerland, South Korea, and Iran.

“For everything else, we will maintain hourly consultations with health authorities and will keep the citizens updated,” Brnabic said, adding that all decisions were being made in accordance with advice and guidance of experts and opinions of doctors and epidemiologists.

A total of four coronavirus cases had been confirmed in Serbia so far, the Health Ministry said in a statement on March 10.

According to earlier reports, two coronavirus cases were confirmed in Serbia- one Chinese national and a male from Sutbotica, the latter being hospitalized in Novi Sad.

Until March 10, a total of 108 individuals suspected of having the coronavirus were tested in the Reference Laboratory of the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera Torlak, according to the statement.
