Armenian, Serbian Parliaments Agree to Bolster Cooperation

Armenian and Serbian speakers Ararat Mirzoyan and Maja Gojkovic signed in Belgrade on March 10 a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parliaments.

Mirzoyan stressed the importance of cooperation between the two parliaments in overall bilateral relations and said that the two parliaments' friendship groups and committees could advance bilateral cooperation and cooperation in international organizations.

Gojkovic said that the Memorandum would enable better cooperation between both parliaments' working bodies in the areas of foreign affairs, the economy, education and culture and in multilateral bodies. Gojkovic thanked Armenia for not recognizing Kosovo's independence and not voting against Serbia's interests in international bodies.

Mirzoyan also said that the peaceful resolution of conflicts was one of the priorities of Armenian foreign policy and that his country believed it was important for international partners to have balanced views and support dialog.

The Armenian official met with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
