Serbian Minister of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said on May 4 that more than 3,500 intercity transportation routes reopened.

"More than 3,500 intercity lines are reopening on May 4, nearly 3,500 buses and 73 trains have started to run across Serbia. One step at a time, we are getting back to life and normality, with all precautionary measures still in place, because our health comes first. Protective gear is mandatory, as well as physical distances measures," Minister Mihajlovic said, during a tour of the Lasta transportation company at the relaunch of public transport.

She said that during the pandemic road transportation turned out to be "a very important segment of the functioning of the state." The minister said that Serbia was ready to reopen air transportation as well, and that the airports and the Air Serbia were equally prepared, but that a decision to relaunch air lines would depend on other European states, since nowhere else in Europe regular air routes had been reopened yet.
