Montenegro’s Ambassador to Serbia Tarzan Milosevic on May 26 said that Podgorica had not yet made a final decision on opening its borders, portal Mondo has reported.
“As you heard from Prime Minister Dusko Markovic, the National Coordination Body should make a decision which will be effective as of June 1, in line with the recommendations of the Public Health Institute,” Milosevic said in a written statement to Mondo.
He added that based on the Public Health Institute’s position, the Montenegrin prime minister had announced he was expecting the borders to open for the countries which met certain epidemiological criteria at the moment and had “clearly stressed that the decision would also apply to other countries which would meet the required criteria by the time the decision took effect.”
“The prime minister stressed that the global trends indicated extension of the list of the countries for which Montenegro could open its borders,” Milosevic noted. The Montenegrin ambassador also said he firmly believed that “good communication will shortly be established between Montenegro and Serbia in terms of free movement of persons, while honoring everything the two countries have so far done to protect health of their respective citizens.”
