The Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate has informed Montenegro Airlines that its right to land on Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport had been suspended, said a Montengrin national air carrier’s announcement carried by the RTS public service on May 27.
“Montenegro Airlines faces a struggle for a more rapid and better connecting of Montenegro with all European destinations and this is a goal we are dedicated to. The field of our operation should not depend on political decisions. Regardless of this unexpected decision by Belgrade, Serbia certainly remains a part of our transportation plans and we will try to contribute to alleviating the economic consequences of COVID-19 as soon as possible,” the announcement further said.
Earlier, the daily Blic reported that the Civil Aviation Directorate had decided, based on the reciprocity principle, to ban the landing of Montenegro Airlines planes at the Belgrade airport. The decision that Blic had insight into, mentions the fact that Serbian citizens are prevented from entering Montenegro.
“As opposed to that, in accordance with the Decision on amending and changing the Decision on declaring the Covid-19 infection caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus, restrictions on the entry of foreign nationals, including those from Montenegro, in Serbia have been lifted,” the Civil Aviation Directorate explanation stated.
