Vucic Says Serbia Staying European Course, but Won't Turn Away from Allies Who Provided Aid

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the opening of the international conference The World after the Coronavirus on May 29 that Serbia would stay the European course, but would never turn against the allies who provided aid amid the pandemic.

Vucic said Germany and China were having the most fast-paced recoveries from the pandemic, followed by the U.S. and Russia in terms of politics, economy and the military, and that consequently it was from these nations that Serbia expected assistance and solidarity.

He stressed that Serbia would bounce back quickly, too, and that, in terms of the greatest economic growth, it had only one European Union member to contend with.

The conference was organized as part of the Belgrade Strategic Dailog initiative and focused on analyzing the geopolitical, economic and health aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic, the initiative said in a press release.

Expected participants were Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, National Bank of Serbia governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic, ambassadors of China and Russia Chen Bo and Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Serbian Chamber of Commerce head Marko Cadez, medical members of the crisis headquarters and many panel discussion guests.
