The Dveri leader, Bosko Obradovic, said on June 15 that on the Election Day, June 21, a total of 8,386 polling places across Serbia might become new Covid-19 hotspots.
"A second wave of the coronavirus is underway, and there are tens of new cases recorded daily, as many new hotspots have emerged across Serbia. The Election Day will be the largest one, as all-out elections are held at 3,386 polling stations next Sunday," Obradovic has warned in a press release.
The opposition leader went on to say that tens of members of electoral committees would be cramped together in a small place, and that hundreds would come in to cast a ballot as well.
Obradovic suggested that in order to protect the health of citizens the Constitutional Court of Serbia should annul the election process as "non-democratic and anti-constitutional," and that the elections should be postponed based on a government-opposition agreement and a special law to be passed by Parliament and supported by all political options.
