In a talk with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, Russian President Vladimir Putin advocated a compromise solution to the Kosovo issue, which would be approved by the U.N. Security Council, according to a release from the Kremlin.

“In a thorough exchange of views on the Kosovo issue, Putin backed generating a compromise solution acceptable to Belgrade, which would have to be approved by the U.N. Security Council,” the Kremlin said in a statement on June 15.

The statement further said that the talk, held at the initiative of Belgrade, positively assessed “the high level of Russian-Serbian strategic partnership.”

“The talk reviewed prospects for stepping up bilateral cooperation in the context of gradual removal of coronavirus countermeasures,” the release said, adding that Vucic confirmed his attendance at the WW II Victory Parade in Moscow, scheduled for June
