Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) on June 22 reported that the data from the Covid-19 information system which BIRN had had access to showed that more than 630 people had died from the coronavirus, that the biggest potential coverup of the number of deaths occurred in Nis, and that late last week the number of infected ranged from 300 to 340 per day.

"From March 19 to June 1, 2020, 632 patients in Serbia died from the coronavirus, 388 times more than the officially stated number for that period, which is 244," BIRN learned from the data that are part of the official state Covid-19 information system.

BIRN attempted several times to contact competent officials of the Ministry of Health, members of the Crisis Headquarters, directors of hospitals and the Public Health Institute Batut, to find out what caused the conspicuous difference between the official data and those contained in the Covid-19 information system, but no one wished to answer their question.
