Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti announced he will not be participating in the White House meeting scheduled for June 27 following the indictment submitted by the Hague-based Specialist Prosecutor’s Office charging several Kosovo officials with war crimes in Kosovo.

“Due to the new developments in Prishtina as a result of the indictment submitted by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, I have to return to my country to deal with the situation,” Hoti wrote on his Twitter account on June 25.

He added that he has informed U.S. Special Envoy to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue Richard Grenell of his decision not to attend the meeting.

According to a press statement, the Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague filed on June 24 a ten-count indictment with the Kosovo Specialist Chamber, charging Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli and others with a list of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, enforced disappearance of persons, persecution and torture.

Thaci has also canceled his trip to Washington where he was to meet with the Serbian representatives.
