CRTA Starts Systematic Election Monitoring on March 13

The Center for Research for Transparency and Accountability (CRTA) observation mission has stated that due to the epidemiological situation in Serbia, which has deteriorated, it will not observe repeated voting at 234 polling stations on July 1.

Organization representatives recalled that they invited on June 29 the Serbian government, crisis headquarters for curbing the coronavirus epidemic and the State Electoral Commission to "urgently and unambiguously" take a stand on conditions for holding repeat elections, but that they received no answer from the institutions.

"Taking into account the current epidemiological situation, as well as the fact that we did not receive unambiguous confirmation from the competent institutions that the environment is safe for holding elections, we were forced to give up on observation," reads the statement.

In Serbia on July 1, repeat parliamentary and local elections will be held at 234 polling stations, with 202,924 voters eligible to vote at those polling stations.
