Party of Freedom and Justice leader Dragan Djilas has said that he will present a proposal to member parties of the Alliance, in a meeting on July 2, that they unite with all the other parties that boycotted the June 21 elections and form a new political option - the Serbian Opposition.

After daily Danas reported on the "disbanding" of the Alliance for Serbia, Djilas tweeted on June 30 that he had made the proposal to the member parties to form the Serbian Opposition, that the idea had been met with support and that the had agreed to showcase the idea to the members of the so-called "boycott opposition" at the July 2 meeting.

He described the news of the "disbanding" of the Alliance as "fake" and said that he had proposed that the new political front, the Serbian Opposition, be formed together with the other political organizations that had boycotted the polls, including those functioning at the national, regional and local levels.

The Danas newspaper on June 29 posted a news item on its website claiming that the opposition Alliance for Serbia no longer existed. Citing information from sources within the bloc, the daily said that the Alliance had held its final meeting, "at which the termination of this group of opposition parties which boycotted the elections was agreed on."
