RTS: New Covid-Care Facilities To Open in Vranjne, Uzice, Kragujevac

Amid an increasing number of coronavirus patients, several towns in Serbia were planning to open new Covid-19 hospitals, public broadcaster RTS reported on July 14.

Vranje is considering to open a fifth Covid-19 hospitals, Uzice will add another 150 beds in the building of the Army’s former command and education center, while the Hospital for Internal Diseases in Kragujevac will be turned into a Covid-19 care facility. In Sabac, a total of 178 patients have been hospitalized, of whom three are on ventilators.

According to RTS, a total of 197 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized in four coronavirus care facilities in Vranje, of whom 46 are on oxygen treatment. As there are only 19 available beds left, the local authorities are considering the opening of a fifth Covid-19 hospital in southern Serbian city.

The Hospital for Internal Diseases in Kragujevac will also be turned into a Covid-19 care facility. The Kragujevac Clinical Center is currently treating 180 coronavirus patients, including 32 in intensive care.
