13 people died of the consequences of the corona virus infection in Serbia in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities since the start of the epidemic to 442.
Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated at a news conference that 9,183 people were tested in that period and that 383 were positive, most of them in Belgrade.
There are currently 4,662 patients in hospitals, 177 of them on ventilators. Since the start of the epidemic, 524,578 people have been tested in Serbia and the presence of the virus has been confirmed in 19.717 cases.
The prime minister assessed that the current epidemiological situation in Serbia was difficult, but that she was optimistic because, as she said, she saw that the people mostly adhere to the preventive measures and appeals of the Crisis Response Team.
She also said that the increase of the number people coming down with the virus in Belgrade and Novi Sad was "the result of the protests, without a shadow of doubt." She added that the Serbian government had adopted new measures, coming into effect on July 17.
