The Dveri leader, Bosko Obradovic, has said that citizens need to be aware of their democratic right to rebellion and civil disobedience, and that no one will give them freedom, justice and democracy as a gift.

"A change of government is no longer enough. We need to disintegrate this devastating political system completely, and build a new one. Serbia lacks democracy from below, beginning with the smallest unit of organized citizenry at universities, in companies, buildings or neighborhoods," Obradovic said in his article, published by the Danas newspaper on Aug. 3.

All classical forms of protests are necessary, he says, suggesting student demonstrations, workers' strikes, village revolts and street actions as different methods to defend different rights - to the freedom of thought, work, urbanity, rurality and healthy environment.

Obradovic said it's time for new political ideas and a new social dialogue.

"Even when at completely opposite ideological poles, it is important to be on the right side of the barricades, maintaining openness, communication, tolerance and solidarity in defending basic democratic values and democracy," the Dveri leader said.
