Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic thinks that Belgrade needs more time to fully understand everything that the Croatian authorities are doing to improve the two countries’ relations.

According to HINA, on the evening of Aug. 9 in Sinj, Plenkovic said that “it is really good, natural and normal” that Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Boris Milosevic, a Serb representative, attended the marking of the 25th anniversary of Operation Storm, held in Knin.

Serbia’s highest officials have been criticizing Milosevic for attending the celebration in Knin.

Plenkovic also said that the Croatian authorities have sent messages that are “appropriate for the beginning of a new phase in the relationship between the Croatian people and Serb minority in Croatia.”

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic expressed his regret at Serbia’s officials criticizing Serb National Council leader Boris Milosevic for attending the Operation Storm anniversary, adding that it is a matter of internal affairs of his country.

He also said that statements such as the one made by Ana Brnabic sadden him. The Serbian prime minster had called Milosevic’s presence at the celebration of Operation Storm unacceptable at the time when some Serbs in Croatia still have no electric power.

Croati's president does not think that such viewpoints from Serbia can delay the reconciliation process, because according to him, “this surely cannot be the attitude of the Serbs [living in Croatia].”
