Belgrade Pride 2023(BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Under the slogan “There’s Room for All of Us,” Belgrade’s annual Pride Week began on Aug. 31 and will last until Sept. 6.
As in prior years, the organizers have said, the week-long celebration will include a wide variety of content, from exhibitions and theatre plays, through lectures and panel discussions, to sports events and parties.
The traditional Pride March through the capital’s downtown streets is scheduled for Sept. 5. The circular route begins and ends at the Manjez park, where a concert will take place once the march is over.
“As Pride Week’s day of protest and fight and its most important segment, the Pride March represents an opportunity for LGBTI+ persons to publicly show their dissatisfaction over the lack of laws to regulate our lives and particularly over the [negative] discrimination and violence still widespread in our society, which far too often go unpunished,” the organizers of Belgrade Pride said in their press release.
