Serbia's epidemiologist Dr Predrag Kon said on Aug. 19 that the coronavirus situation was getting better, but what still created uncertainties was that the number of check-ups that people with symptoms and suspect cases required didn't go down.
Dr Kon said in an interview with the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS) that Serbian nationals travelling abroad should not expect any additional measures, quarantine or self-isolation.
As the epidemiologist put it, if the epidemiological status was maintained "for a week or so," PCR tests should no longer be required for the citizens of Serbia travelling to Montenegro, as 25 infections per 100,000 people had been the country's entry requirement.
Dr Kon also said that the numbers mattered the most, and that it's true they were going down, indicating that a much better situation could be expected in a couple of days. In addition, the number of check-ups could remain between 100 and 200 in the next seven days, after which it is expected to drop as well.
Speaking about the situation in the Belgrade Public Health Institute, Dr Kon said that the plan was to carry out 30 to 35 tests a day, but that the number had risen to 150.
