Nine people died from the coronavirus in Kosovo in the past 24 hours, who had other chronic illnesses, raising the total number of fatalities since the start of the epidemic to 425, it was announced on Aug. 19.
Samples of 470 people were tested according to the RT-PCR method in the Laboratory for Microbiology of the Institute for Public Health of Kosovo, taken from clinics, regional hospitals and contacts of those infected earlier. Of them, 162 people were positive for the presence of the coronavirus.
The total number of positive cases has added up to 11,848 so far, out of 45,397 people suspected of being infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. 122 patients were declared cured during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of those cured to 7,684.
There are 3,739 active cases of the coronavirus infection.
The Pristina municipality is still in the first place according to the number of the newly infected and active cases, which had 48 new cases on Aug. 19 alone.
