Ivica Dacic

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Sept. 29 said that Serbia would not take either side in the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, stressing that the goal was to end the hostilities and bring all back to the negotiating table.

Dacic told public broadcaster RTS that both, Armenia and Azerbaijan, were Serbia’s friendly countries and friendly nations. “We, of course appeal to cessation of hostilities and return to peaceful talks as soon as possible, that is the goal of the Minsk Group, set up 20 years ago,” Dacic said.

Dacic stressed that Serbia would take neither side, noting that it was not about siding, “but to as soon as possible enable the end of conflict and bring all back to the negotiating table.”

“This could be a good warning to all in the region on how little time it takes to enflame some old conflicts and on how important it is to preserve peace and stability in the entire region,” Dacic stressed.
