The editor-in-chief of BIRN, Milorad Ivanovic, stated on Sept. 30 that it was commendable that epidemiologist Predrag Kon had announced the real data about the number of fatalities from the coronavirus, "although he is several months belated."
Ivanovic told BETA that, in June, when BIRN published an article about the intentional manipulating with data about covid-19 fatalities, Kon described it as "a conspiracy theory."
"At that time, Predrag Kon accused BIRN of launching an attack against all the physicians by their reports, which is a lie. On the contrary, BIRN has reported that the physicians had provided the data about the infected and the deceased regularly and in full accordance with regulations, and that someone after that had intentionally altered the data and deliberately deceived the public," Ivanovic stated.
To the question about whether it was possible that IT staff were the sole responsible for the fact that inaccurate data about the number of covid-19 fatalities had been announced, the editor-in-chief of BIRN replied that they could carry none of the responsibility for the inaccuracy of that data.
