Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo have stated that their countries are tied by a firm friendship and that their bilateral relations continue to advance.

At a reception to mark the Chinese Statehood Day held in Belgrade in the evening on Sept. 30, Chen said Serbia and China have shown, in practice, that they are “steel-made friends” who “share both the good and bad times.”

“Despite the effects of the coronavirus epidemic, the relationship between China and Serbia are improving. There are still some difficulties and pressures on our path, but we are convinced we will continue to cooperate, help each other, and go forward,” the ambassador added.

Vucic said he is proud of the two countries’ friendship and that they will manage to preserve their brotherly and friendly relations, adding that Serbia, regardless of the pressure it might be exposed to, “will never question its friendship with China.”

During the reception, which was also attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and the Cabinet ministers, Vucic asked the Chinese ambassador to give Chinese President Xi Jinping his letter in which he is expressing his gratitude “for the respect [Jinping] has shown Serbia.”
