The European Union has so far supported the reform of public governance in Serbia, through the model of sector budget support, with a total of EUR80 million, with the aim of improving the sector to become more efficient, transparent and accessible to the people and businesses, the chief of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Sem Fabrizi, stated on Oct. 1, stressing that the support would continue.

Fabrizi told BETA that the EU was still working with Serbia on the three-year sector budget support project, worth EUR80 million. He said he believed that the reformed public governance was one of the key elements through which life of Serbian people would truly change, on the legislative side, as well as with the help of funding that the EU was sending and would continue to send to Serbia in the forthcoming years.

He recollected that the reform of public governance was important because it directly affected the daily life of the people – education, public transportation, the medical system, the tax administration, the customs authority. In his words, reform of public governance is one of the crucially important elements on Serbia's path to the EU, and that was why the EU was investing a lot of effort and providing the large financial support.
