The Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights (Yucom) on Oct. 6 called on premier-designate Ana Brnabic not to include incumbent Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin in her future cabinet.

“While serving as defense minister and intensely during the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Vulin has been publically calling the Albanians ‘Shqiptars’ and has been insulting the dignity of the Albanian national minority. Thereby, he has demonstrated disrespect the position of the domestic courts that derogatory marking the Albanian minority with this name represents hate speech,” Yucom has said in a statement.

Yucom further said that “abusing” the post of defense minister, Vulin had been using official Defense Ministry’s statements for “spreading hate speech” against the Albanians in Kosovo. In the absence of the head of the institution for the protection of equality, Yucom has filed a suit against Vulin for hate speech.
