Serbian Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic has said that Russia, whose foreign minister is scheduled to visit Belgrade on Dec. 15, is a strong and serious political and economic partner of Serbia.

“Meetings with (Sergei) Lavrov will not only address political issues, but also the railway, energy, military cooperation, and vaccines. They will discuss all the matters of common ground between the two countries,” Selakovic has told state public broadcaster RTS, noting that it speaks of close ties between the two states.

He further said that Serbia and Russia shared similar views on the Dayton Peace Agreement from 1995, which, according to him is of great importance for the stability in the region. “The Dayton Accords cannot be brought down or changed without consent of all of the three constituent peoples and two entities. It is absolutely inadmissible to speak about some sort of annulment or abolition of Republika Srpska. We honor Bosnia and Herzegovina, but no one can prohibit us from loving the Serbs and being one nation regardless of where we live,” Selakovic stressed.

He went on to say that in a single day three influential media outlets in Croatia, without any reason or relying on any previous speech by the Serbian president, had published “three editorials against Serbia.”

According to Selakovic, “those are political articles which attack Aleksandar Vucic’s policy and Serbia’s right to take care of the Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica, Montenegro, and Republika Srpska.”
