Dragan Janjic, one of the founders of BETA, and a long-standing editor-in-chief of the agency, will be remembered for his personal struggle for the freedom of speech, a more just world and more respect for human rights, the editorial team of the OBC Transeuropa (Osservatorio Balcani e Caucaso - OBC Transeuropa) think tank researching social and political changes in South-East Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus, said on Jan. 8.
The OBC Transeuropa opened its monthly bulletin with a eulogy for Dragan Janjic, who died unexpectedly on Dec. 31, describing Janjic, the organization's correspondent since 2013, as "a bulwark of the independent media."
"We will miss you, Dragan. Serbia and the world will miss your voice, comments and fierce tweets. You left suddenly, leaving everyone breathless. You will be remembered for your struggle for the freedom of speech, a more just world and more respect for human rights. We will remember you as a true and honest friend, a hardworking colleague and sharp analyst," the OBC Transeuropa said.
