Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has people to welcome her in Montenegro, but the question is if she will find the time for a visit, Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic said on Jan. 25, adding that his government will not give up on trying to normalize the relations between Montenegro and Serbia.
Krivokapic told the Montenegrin MINA news agency that is not a question of who will be there to meet Brnabic at the airport, but rather “if she will find the time to come and greet all those who are eager to see her in Montenegro, because she is the prime minister of the brotherly and neighboring Serbia.”
In response to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s statement about the Serbian prime minister “not feeling good about” paying an official visit to Montenegro because there will not be anyone to welcome her at the airport, Krivokopic said that the citizens of the two countries want the relations between Serbia and Montenegro to normalize.
“Our people also do not need to be presented with problems that are technicalities, such as whether the [Serbian] prime minister will be welcomed by the ambassador or his deputy. In this formal sense, someone will be there to greet her,” the Montenegrin prime minster said.
He affirmed that the invitation is still open for “their closest neighbors,” with whom the Montenegrin officials share their “love and concern for the citizens, be they living in Serbia or Montenegro.”
