Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic has stated that he will not stand in the way of the best possible relations between Montenegro and Serbia, adding that he would like to receive an official invitation for his first visit to Belgrade.
“For Montenegro, Serbia is much more than a political destination,” Krivokapic said in an interview for the Dec. 24 issue of the NIN weekly.
When asked whether he will start his announced tour of the region with a visit to Belgrade or to Pristina, Krivokapic reiterated that he would like an invitation to come from Serbia’s capital, as he cannot see “a more important place for talks, arrangements, and agreements that Montenegro has to make.”
The prime minister added that Montenegro wants to become the 28th EU member state, adding that the new government is ready to work on this becoming realty as much as it needs to.
“[We will work] on removing all the deficiencies that separate us from our large European family. The EU has been facing its own problems these past few years, which have nothing to do with the Western Balkans, and that surely affects the enlargement policies,” he added.
