Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced the implementation of a set of economic measures worth EUR2.5 billion, including the disbursement of money to all adult citizens and minimum monthly salaries to businesses.
Speaking on a Serbian Broadcasting Corporation show late on Jan. 26, Vucic said that all citizens would be able to apply for 30 euros in May and for the same amount in November, while pensioners would besides those 60 euros receive 50 more.
He also said that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises would three times receive 50 percent of the minimum monthly salary, adding that there was a dilemma as to whether the same measure should be applied to big companies. Those payments to businesses will start on April 1, he said.
Vucic announced that the transportation sector would six times be paid 600 euros for every bus, "so that they can survive, save their capital." In his words, the government "will expand the guarantee scheme" by another EUR500 million, so as to preserve the private sector's liquidity.
When asked where the money for those measures came from, Vucic replied that it was "Serbian money, from the Serbian treasury, from the serious Serbian state."
