Serbian parliament speaker Ivica Dacic has said that the inter-party dialogue on election conditions has been postponed as the European Parliament (EP) has to finish the preparatory phase.

In the evening on April 12, Dacic told TV Happy that certain opposition parties did not wish to talk with the authorities, but only “to present their wishes to EP representatives.”

He once again described as unrealistic the demands relating to setting up a ministry for elections, controllers in public companies and editorial teams in public state broadcaster RTS. Dacic added that he would soon schedule consultations with the parties which did not wish foreign participants in the inter-party dialogue.

“It is legitimate. No one will impose on us what sort of dialogue we will conduct. All topics can be discussed, but if someone thinks that four MEPs are magicians who will put someone into power without elections, that is impossible in 2021 or 2022,” Dacic noted.

He added that certain opposition parties “are on life support equipment and believe that EP representatives will provide impulses to them.”
