14 people died from the consequences of the coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours in Serbia and there were 550 newly infected among the 10.062 tested people, the Health Ministry announced on May 20.
There are 2,008 covid-19 patients currently being treated in hospitals, 70 of them on ventilators. Since the start of the epidemic in Serbia, 6,739 people have died and 708,878 have been registered as positive for the coronavirus.
The state secretary of the Serbian Health Ministry, Mirsad Djerlek, stated on May 20 that 50 percent of Serbian citizens will have received the second dose of the vaccine by Vidovdan, June 28.
"We currently have 1,842,000 people who are revaccinated and will have two million in seven days, which is around 35 percent of the population," Djerlek stated in an interview to TV K1, adding that "everything depends on young people," but also that the working population of 40 to 60 years of age, should also demonstrate responsibility, since "the turnout for the vaccination is not good among them."
