The Serbian Ministry of Health announced on June 2 that nine people died from the coronavirus in Serbia in the past 24 hours and that there were 287 newly infected people.

There are 581 patients currently being treated in hospitals, 38 of them on ventilators. Since the start of the epidemic in Serbia, 712,989 people have been infected and 6,881 have died.

RTS has reported that the production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the virus would start in the Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Serums in Belgrade on June 4.

Besides Russia, Serbia is the only country in Europe in which that vaccine will be made. The Russian National Institute for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya has confirmed the quality of Torlak's test run in the vaccine production and has approved the production of Sputnik V there.

The minister without portfolio in the Serbian government, Nenad Popovic, has announced on Twitter that Serbian and Russian officials would attend the start of production.
