Vucic, Rama, and Zaev for Free Movement of People, Goods and Services ASAP

Implementation of the four freedoms

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the prime ministers of Albania and North Macedonia, Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev respectively, on June 29 said they wished to the implementation of the four freedoms – the free movement of goods, capital, services, and people started across the region as soon as possible. They also announced their full backing to a regional single market at the Berlin Process Summit on July 5.

During a video conference Mini Schengen, focusing on regional cooperation, Vucic, Rama and Zaev agreed to meet in Skopje on July 29 to review the progress achieved in the implementation of the so far launched initiatives and projects and sign additional trilateral agreements in relation to implementation of the obligations deriving from the Berlin Process, cooperation and assistance in response to natural disasters and trade privileges.

“We are aware that only through joint work and by endorsing regional cooperation within different regional initiatives, such as a single market, a regional Schengen, green corridors, or the Berlin Process, we can bring closer our economies, improve the wellbeing of our peoples and attract major investments, which otherwise would not be possible for any of the countries individually,” it is said in one of the joint conclusions of the video conference, according to a release from Vucic’s Office.

In the joint conclusions, Vucic, Rama and Zaev called on their “colleagues in the region to sign and implement similar agreements so that the vision of a single political and economic region across the Western Balkans, through a single market, could become an important part of everyday life of citizens.”
