Movement of Free Citizens leader Pavle Grbovic said on July 8 that ahead of a dialogue on election conditions the atmosphere was such that Serbia was getting closer to not holding elections rather than holding free and fair elections.

Grbovic told BETA that everyone approaching the dialog with honest intentions, including representatives of the European Parliament as well, who, he said, will be responsible for the success of the process, needed to be aware of this fact.

"After an unjustified period of several months of postponing the dialogue because of the authorities' fears of facing arguments and the true picture of how they destroyed democracy in Serbia, it is essential that all actors seriously approach the dialogue and that we don't lose time haggling over what the problems are, which we all know, but  that we reach solutions that will enable citizens to vote freely, without pressure and on the basis of a normal information basis," Grbovic said.

He said that for the dialogue between the government and opposition which the mediation of European MPs to produce results it was essential that the opposition be more present in the media, the misuse of office by incumbent officials and pressure on voters.
