The Party of Democratic Action leader and the Bosnia and Herzegovina House of Peoples’ speaker, Bakir Izetbegovic, on July 27 said that following the decision of Serb representatives to boycott the common Bosnian institutions, things should let calm down, after which the institutions in B-H would start functioning again.
Izetbegovic also said that “political crisis must arise from time to time,” noting that “positive decisions had to provoke reactions.” “Fuel should not be added to the fire. We should let things calm down. The high representative will stay, the Bosnian powers will remain and the institutions will start functioning again, the sooner the better,” Izetbegovic said.
He expressed the hope that after all these experience “all will be cleverer, more considerate and have more understanding for each other.” Izetbegovic noted that certain things B-H should start doing itself rather than “wait for them to be imposed.”
On July 27, the top officials of the B-H Parliamentary Assembly House of Peoples postponed its session due to absence of Serb MPs, who in protest of Inzko’s decision to outlaw denial of genocide had decided to boycott the join institutions in B-H.
